A Generational Gentle Birth Story

                                                                          Teddy 34 Years Ago

Sunday, 8th September 2024, was a day filled with deep reflection and emotion for me. It marked a truly special moment in my career and in the lives of two families intertwined by the Gentle Birth Method. Thirty-four years ago, I had the privilege of supervising a water birth in a charming third-floor flat in Little Venice, North London. That baby, a beautiful boy born in the warmth of the water, grew up to become a wonderful man named Teddy. Fast forward to today, and I found myself in the extraordinary position of preparing and supervising Teddy's wife, Ines, as she brought their own child into the world through another water birth.

It was a beautiful 5-hour labor, and as I watched Ines welcome their baby into the world, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of connection. The serenity of the water, the calmness of the environment, and the support that I could offer were the same as it had been for Teddy's birth so many years ago. The continuity of it all was awe-inspiring—a true full circle moment for me.

It felt as though the thread of this gentle birth journey had woven itself through generations. Teddy was my water birth baby 34 years ago, and now, Ines, his partner, experienced the same empowering and peaceful birth with the same method. This moment truly encapsulated the heart of the Gentle Birth Method—one rooted in love, connection, and the unwavering belief that birth is a sacred and transformative experience, no matter how many years pass.
